Pulusu

This is a gravy mix that can used to make authentic south indian pulusu. Tastes good if paired with mudda pappu (plain cooked Lentils)

Ingredients

  1. Mustard seeds
  2. Chana dal
  3. Dried Red Chillies
  4. Root vegetables
  5. Oil
  6. Curry leaves
  7. Tamarind Juice
  8. Jaggery/Sugar

Method

  1. Root vegetables ( pumpkin, bottle guard, sweet potato etc)
  2. Add oil to the pan
  3. Add Chana dal , mustard and let them splutter
  4. Add dry red chillies and curry leaves( as per taste )
  5. Add the root vegetable and salt
  6. Let it cook till they are 50% done
  7. Add tamarind juice/paste as per taste
  8. Add jaggery/Sugar as per taste
  9. Cook till it is 90% done
  10. Mix the pulusu podi in water
  11. Add it to the curry
  12. Add water, salt and mirchi powder as per your taste and to achieve required consistency.
